Sami A. Houry
Sami is a senior research officer at Athabasca University with a focus on statistics and research methods. His previous corporate experience spans various positions focused on business consulting including data analysis, program evaluations, market research and project management. Sami holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Toronto, an MBA from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Certified Marketing Research Professional designation from the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association, and a Doctorate in Complexity Science applications to management from Athabasca University, the coming together of his physics and business backgrounds. With an interest in history, Sami manages the “Wonders of the Orient” page focused on the history, heritage, traditions, literature, and philosophy of the region spanning Morocco to Indonesia. The page has over 23,000 members to date. Today, he is looking to contribute to heritage preservation in Calgary. Starting with small contributions including a one-year adoption of Captain James Cook's sword and a remnant of the Red Baron's plane at the Glenbow Museum, and purchasing a personalized brick featured at the restored King Edward Hotel.
Sami has served as a board member of the Calgary Heritage Authority since 2016.
